Tokyo’s Organs Lie in its Suburbs

Taro Izumi (Artist)

When you left home today did you start out with your left foot or your right? If these thoughts revolving in your head have some effect on the earth’s crust or something, resulting in a volcanic eruption, you would not take responsibility, would you? Looking back over your actions in minute detail like this might seem a little insane, but at the moment I feel the need to analyze them, in my own way, regardless.

I slept late on December 13th and the people from AIT did not look happy…
This is only a prediction. The reason being that today is still December 8. If I do not sleep in on that day, I will not be late and this situation will not arise. In order to ensure I do not oversleep, I must go to bed early the day before. In order to go to bed early, I must finish all my jobs in the afternoon. Perhaps I will have to work through the night two days before in order to finish all my jobs in the afternoon. In order to work through the night, it might be best if I were to rest the day before that. In order to rest three days in advance, I will have to tidy my room, read a book and edit a movie four days before, which means I will have to work all night that day. In order to work all night on that day I will have to eat some fruit the day before to sharpen my wits. Having decided that that day will be fruit day, I must go and check out the greengrocer’s store the day before or I may not have the time. I like the neglected atmosphere of the greengrocer’s in front of the station, but if I were to eat fruit that was not quite fresh, my spirits would droop so it will be necessary for me to go to Yamanashi Prefecture to find something fresh. I will have to plan my journey to Yamanashi the day before that or I might make a mistake when changing trains and run around in confusion. I begin to worry and look it up but I find that I can go all the way from my home in Tachikawa to Yamanashi without changing trains, it would appear that I can catch a single train directly there so I needn’t worry.
I will set off for Yamanashi tomorrow.
