Architecture

Shinya Satoh (Architect / Associate professor, Department of Architecture. Nihon University College of Science and Technology)

When I consider the buildings of the last ten years, I feel that the word, ‘space’, that architects have believed in up until now, has become nullified. Today, when the immaterial has become prized over the material, how should we go about creating buildings that contain material space? Faced with this dilemma, how should the architect’s function change? One answer to this question is to begin enlarging it by changing the word ‘building’ to ‘architecture’.
